We got your message and will work on it.  Do you mean just in the year 1990 or all of the 90s?

Sorry for the delay...meetings and things!  Smile

We'll check for more on the rest of the 90's, but here's a list of AH events that the Daily Herald showed specifically for 1990:

1.  The Junior Olympics Swim Meet was held at Recreation Park Pool with over 500 swimmers participating.
2.  The Park District renovated the Safety Town course and the tennis courts at Olympic Park.
3.  Construction for renovation began at Pioneer Park
4.  The Village dedicated Lake Arlington.
5.  After four months in Iraq, former hostage Clyde "Jess" Jesse of Buffalo Grove was reunited with his family (December 1, 1990).
6.  Construction began on the N.W. Suburban Storm Sewer project.
7.  Arlington Heights received $175,000 in grant money for bike trails in the Village.
8.  Eight Arlington Heights students became National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists.
9.  Prospect High School won the Mid Suburban League Softball Championship.

On a world basis:
Reunification of Germany after a 45-year divide
Hubble telescope was launched
Dances with Wolves won the academy award for best picture.

We'll look for some material from the rest of the '90s, too.

There are a few other useful sources out there, too.  The Park District has its year-by-year history up at http://www.ahpd.org/AboutUs/HistoryByYear.html.

I've also located a few other interesting details in the Trib & Daily Herald and the book Chronicle of a Prairie Town: Arlington Heights, Illinois:

1999--Arlington Park announces it will reopen in 2000 after briefly closing.
1998--The Park District's Banta House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places
1998--The Arlington Heights Senior Center opened at its new location on Central and Wilke.
1995--The Arlington Heights Memorial Library completed its expansion, bringing the library's total area to 132,000 sq. ft.
1995--First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton is the graduation speaker for Hersey High School

So far I've only been able to dig back to '95, but this is a start, no?  I'll see if we can track down a bit  more for earlier dates.
